THE NORTH FACE 100 (Jane Kilkenny) For a runner TNF100 is the ultimate challenge. This event is more than a run, it's a snapshot of life. In less than 20 hours I experienced all facets of the human emotion from excited anticipation to the depths of frustration, desperately wanting to give it all up. You have to dig deep to get over this finish line. I've always been a runner, it's an integral part of who I am. I love to run, it always makes me feel good and is the ultimate freedom. It's time to think, solve problems, make plans or simply drift along in your own head space. The “Ultimate Challenge” is what drew me to TNF100. More than just a physical challenge, this event is all about mental toughness. Finding the will to keep going when you look up to see ANOTHER SET OF STEPS!!! I never dreamed there could be so many stairs in the Blue Mountains. The course is breathtaking, but excruciating. Who could ever imagine that you could have SO MUCH FUN whilst being in so much pain! I laughed, I cried, I screamed out when I knew no-one could hear me and there were plenty of times when I just wanted to stop. BUT quitting is not an option I ever choose, and I am determined it never will be. So if you have ever truly wondered what you are capable of give TNF100 a go. Not for the feint hearted, cautious or indecisive. You need to grab this with both hands and fight to the end. I guarantee you will be totally exhilarated by the experience. |
